Summary

Like everyone else in Palm Springs, Gish idolizes her smart, beautiful, kind older sister。 Even their parents compare Gish unfavorably to Gloria—threatening to send her to boarding school once the more perfect sister leaves for college。

But Gloria has an unwavering love for Gish, even if that connection belies a weariness with her own accomplishments。 Wanting a better life for her overlooked sibling, Gloria teaches Gish how to talk to boys, embrace her femininity, and finally develop a life of her own。 And just as life is looking up for Gish, Gloria meets a handsome, mysterious boy。 Obsessed with the stranger, Gloria closes off her life to her sister—then disappears without a trace。

A police search yields nothing。 Their father’s manic investigation proves fruitless。 And their already star-struck mother becomes increasingly lost in daydreams of the celebrities who partied in their house decades ago when the town was a Hollywood getaway。

Untethered from the weight of her sister’s presence—but also missing her sister’s love—what will Gish do with this new terrible freedom, with this sense she could become anything?

"Gloria teaches Gish how to talk to boys, embrace her femininity, and finally develop a life of her own"No, Andrew Neiderman。 Just no。 The way you write about female puberty/womanhood/'womanly ways'/'feminine secrets' and pretty much anything to do with female sexuality and body image is just gross and in bad taste, and has been for a long time。"And just as life is looking up for Gish, Gloria meets a handsome, mysterious boy。 Obsessed with the stranger, Gloria closes off her life to her sister—t "Gloria teaches Gish how to talk to boys, embrace her femininity, and finally develop a life of her own"No, Andrew Neiderman。 Just no。 The way you write about female puberty/womanhood/'womanly ways'/'feminine secrets' and pretty much anything to do with female sexuality and body image is just gross and in bad taste, and has been for a long time。"And just as life is looking up for Gish, Gloria meets a handsome, mysterious boy。 Obsessed with the stranger, Gloria closes off her life to her sister—then disappears without a trace。"IDK but right now, I can't help but envision that the dude is a vampire or something。 Or maybe a ghost, given that Neiderman has written both of these in previous "VCA" books as well as books he wrote under his name。 Whatever the "twist" here is, I am sure it will be cliched and disappointing。"Untethered from the weight of her sister’s presence—but also missing her sister’s love—what will Gish do with this new terrible freedom, with this sense she could become anything?"My prediction is that Gish takes on Gloria's identity。 I could be wrong, but that seems to be the way this is headed。This is yet another title that Andrew Neiderman would be better off publishing under his own name, but he doesn't because he knows the VCA name will sell it for him。When VCA died, her family controlled her estate, but that was 35 years ago。 At this point, her mother and her brothers are dead, and I'm not sure she had any nephews or nieces (I could be wrong, but haven't found information on additional family members) and the receny fuckery of the Christopher's Diary and Corrine books, as well as the sheer glut of titles that Neiderman have written under the name and the Lifetime movies (which leave a lot to be desired) leaves me wondering if Andrew Neiderman himself owns the VCA estate/name now, (bought it from what remained of VCA's family, or those handling the estate after the family died, perhaps?)It certainly would explain a lot。。。(Quite interesting article on V。C。 Andrews, Neiderman, and the estate, from 2014, can be found here) https://www。buzzfeed。com/kateaurthur/。。。Also, Andy-boy, please stop recycling names and titles。 I know there has been at least one Gloria in previous novels (Misty's mother from the Wildflowers) and Gish is obviously derived from Gisselle Dumas of the Landry series, and this is also the third title using the word 'sister'。In fact, just stop writing under VCA's name altogether。 If you are truly so confident in your writing abilities, then you should have absolutely no issue using your own name, and those who support you should have no issue supporting your own name, either。As of Sept 2021, I have had twenty of Andrew Neiderman's fans and/or sockpuppets try to harrass me and troll me over speaking the truth about this books。 There are actually more than this, but it's not until the beginning of 2019 that I actually started counting, so while the official count is 20, the real number would be closer to about twice that number since I was getting harrassed back when I was still writing reviews on Amazon, and Neiderman was also caught writing reviews for himself where he talked about himself in the third person to say that the ghostwriter was better than VCA。It would be more amusing if the whole mess wasn't so god damn pathetic。 。。。more
